I have close to 200,000 on my car. The rack and pinion are worn out. I have a flat spot on the rack at the wheels centered position.
I can't adjust the preload spring any tighter to compensate for the flat spot without having more effort to turn the steering wheel
out of its center position.
I need a source for a NEW ( not reman ) complete manual rack and pinion steering.

If you can't find a low mileage used one, Suzuki still offers:

OEM Part Number: 4858050G20

steering gear housing Swift MANUAL
Include: Rack, Pinion Shaft, Bearings 1998-01 Models. Online Price $597.65

Fits 1998-2001. Different listing for 1995-1997 but the numbers may simply have been superseded; best check with Suzuki parts line.

A good friend gave me a Cardona rebuilt rack and pinion for Christmas.
I installed it about a month ago and I am very happy with the rebuilt unit.
Either they machined the racks gear faces or they replaced the rack.
Either way it was done right.
