 Post subject: Sticky Throttle

I took off my TPS sensor to clean and inspect it, and ever since I put it back on the throttle has been sticky! I have to punch the pedal for it to move at all. I sprayed some carb cleaner and sea foam in the intake but it still sticks.

I saw somewhere that it's a good idea to reset the TPS after re-mounting it on the throttle body. Will disconnecting the negative batt cable for a few hours do the trick, or is there a different procedure? And will this even remedy the sticking?

There is the TPS adjustment: What manual did you use to install it? My Chilton says place new sensor on throttle valve shaft in such way that screw holes are a little out of alignment. Turn sensor clockwise until holes line up, hand tighten, connect neg. battery cable, connect electrical connector to sensor.

Engine off, open and close the throttle by hand and watch the butterfly valve to see if it sticks. If you did install it with a manual, excuse my presumption, then the throttle stop screw can be adjusted. It's the allen screw with lock nut. This being a '92, close to my '91. I adjusted it in very tiny increments, like 1/4 of a clockwise turn, drive to market, adjust, drive, adjust... It is opening the butterfly valve, which was sticking. I also had some fuel on top of the injector, fuel was hitting the butterfly valve, a combination of stop screw and TPS adjustments.
