I've searched, but it's kinda hard to find basically everything...
(If I'm in a wrong forum, MODs, pls put it where it belongs)

The problem is next...
When I start the car, water gauge is showing temp below first dash (cold engine)...
As I drive, water temp remains on it's position like I wrote above, and oil temp gauge gets close to 65 degrees celsius. (this is after let's say 20 mins of constant driving with very little (if any) idle operation while standing still on the red traffic light.

If I would drive this way (without stopping), oil and water temp would show values like above.
And if I stop and let it idle for i.e. 5-6-7 mins, water temp goes to normal and oil slowly starts to rise...

When I do that and continue to drive, sometimes water and oil temp start to fall down and sometimes not and showing values like it should... I didn0t figure it out when is he doing one or another....

This happens either if I start cold engine (in the morning) or hot engine...
I think I also noticed that if I'm driving for 20-30 mins, that the air valve is still acting like the engine is cold and it isn't...

I believe that the problem could be in thermostat, but how can you explain faulty operation to the oil temp gauge then...?
Are they connected somehow (except the fact that both of them are showing temperatures)....?

P.S. Recently, I exchanged my starter motor...
After replacing it, I wanted to start the car, but I didn't connect ignition wire going from ignition coil to distributor and cranked an engine for a couple of times...
In this case, where the sparks ground to? Could that maybe damage the temp sensor?

A bit late, but perhaps it still helps: Looks to me like a faulty thermostat.
The air rushing through your radiator when driving is cooling down the engine coolant at a time it shouldn't be cooled. This results in the oil not heating up to operating temperature and the engine remaining in elevated idle speed.

My opinion: change the thermostat and its gasket and this issue will be gone.

About the coil: because of the nature of the coil it will present a high voltage on its output. This wasn't connected to the distributor so no current can flow. Hence the coil doesn't discharge to the distributor and then into the sparkplug which is connected by the distributor.
This shouldn't (better: can't) result in a defective temperaturesensor.

Change over the thermostat and its gasket and don't worry too much about the problem you've had with forgetting to connect the coil to the distributor. When I need to boost up oilpressure in an engine without starting it (after overhauling it or start it up after a long standstill) I disconnect the same link between the coil and the distributor.

Thx 4 reply...

I forgot about this topic, but I already exchanged (faulty) thermostat... :drunk:
