Just purchased some euro glass headlights for my 89 GTI I tried to install them, but everything is different! The headlight sockets are different! Nothing lines up! How do I convert to the USA model?

The plug is different . You have to remove the complete headlight assembly including bracket all the way down to radiator support then they will bolt in . The mounting holes were already in my 92 model.

What about the headlight bulb socket not locking in place? Do I need to get some euro sockets?

you need to buy h4 headlight sockets (get the ceramic type which won't melt) and then cut the headlight wiring and splice in the new h4 sockets to match the bulbs in the e code glass headlights.

the h4 bulbs have a metal mounting flange that locks into the reflector with a spring clip. you install the big rubber boot with the lamp prongs coming out the back side. then the h4 socket pushes onto the lamp prongs.

Do you know exactly how to splice the h4 sockets to the US wiring?

Anyone know what size bolt that mounts to the top of the euro glass headlights to the top rail?

it's not a big deal the H4 connector is sold in all U.S autoparts store. i bought mine at autozone. I just bought some spade connectors to splice into factory Suzuki harness.

m6 x 1.25 pitch in a 16 to 20 mm length. the threaded receiving holes are already in the usa market upper radiator support.
