Hello,
It's Bucovat, near Craiova city.
I shifted at 7800 because the engine is at it's second race since built so I didn't want to stress it out .
I blew almost 500 ml of oil from the valve cover so the piston rings aren't sealing properly yet.

Never run your car without a belt cover...

Why were you running the engine without a belt cover anyway? My thinking has been that every engine I've ever seen with a timing belt on it comes with covers over the timing belt, so the engineers who designed the engine probably included timing belt covers for some good reason, so who am I to second guess them and not reinstall covers I've removed? I also create mental pictures of what my fingers or hair on my head or whatever would look like jammed between the belt and pulley on a running engine. Now, thanks to your excellent bent valves picture, I have another unforgettably graphic understanding of why engine designers include belt covers in their designs.

I'm happy I can help :)
Yes unfortunately I raced like that for 5 years and I really didn't think this could happen to me since I only raced on clean tarmac.
I guess Murphy's laws always apply. Another lesson learned the hard way.

2015 seems to be a good year.
I finally found the solution to stiffen up the rear axel to body link point (it was flexing alot) and also fount time and money to fabricate pillow ball mounts and the front coupled with upper and lower braces and uniball front control arms.

The car handles alot better after these mods and the next step will be a a limited slip diff if I can afford one.

Here are a couple of photos regarding the mods and a short video of the race.

Next race is on 02.04

We got a new look this year and I hope you guys like it.

P.S: the red GTI is almost rebuilt ( engine and drivetrain)
P.P.S: I also have a son now, he will be 1 year old on the 29th. Couldn't be happier.

@t3 ragtop Thanks .
Sorry for not visiting the forum but I didn't wann miss time with my son so I dedicate all my spare time after work to him.
Here is the new look of my gti and a very special trailer regarding this race and my life. The full movie will be out this year I think...if the productions guys find time to finish it.

I really like how the car turned out given my budget or the lack of it over the years.

the GTI still amazes me because I managed to loan a set of F1 heaters for my slicks and managed a new record for my class and for the 1.6 class I think . Managed to shave 2 seconds of my best time on a very short track and that is without a lsd.
