I got mine just a year ago.... (last june) Oldie with 220000 Kms, I wanted someting cheap, so I went after swifts. There it was at dealer. I really didn't know much about the GT, but I took it for a fast spin, and I waas in love suddenly. It was in very nice shape, and the exhaust was broken just at front of the muffler.. hehe it sounded lovely. Good on gas, and to my surprise, it can keep up with my 82 Datsun 280ZX until 100 km/h. over that the 2.8 I6 will pull better, but the engine is more than double the size....
I put in 50000 Kms in a year, never stopped. Changed timing belt, brakes, radiator, starter, cv shafts and wheel bearings, but it was all worth it. Very nice car. Fun to drive and surpises some of the civic guys.
Thinking of putting in 1.8L engine from an esteem though. The only thing I miss in this car is some low-end tourqe...

1.Everything about it is cheap -the gas, parts, and insurance.

2.I can manuever thru/in tight spots

3.Even if i run into stuff like trees and bushes, i shrug it off and be on my way.

4.The rubber bumpers are pure classic.

1- First it's not a Honda! Never wanted to be like everyone else.
2- Unlimited potential.
3- The gas milage. Duh!
4- The look on peoples faces when they get smoked by a 3cyl. I just smoked a 95 Talon Tsi the other day and man was it fun!
5- The sound of my turbo spooling up.
6- They are just awesome looking cars.
7- If you treat them right they are pretty bulletproof.

The reasons
1.spent $21 bucks to fill my tank from E today 8)
2.I hate punks that have rich parents that buy bolt-on kits and have some else instale it, when you own a g10/g13 you know that car better than yourself
3.Everthing that goes in is a direct reflection of my work, one way or another
4.kicking ass with a 993cc motor, ice a/c, booming sound, custom interior, and the low rumble of the exhaust
5.showing civics how heavy thier cars really are.
666.making shure everyone else on/off the track gets :owned: by a 1.0L

It can lay rubber at the track on Sunday
and carry a small couch and end tables
during the week, (back seats folded down
hatch open, seriously!)

I love my Metro because its such a great "Lady Magnet".

I just explain that I recently got rid of a $1200/mo 2004 Mercedes SUV
and now only have this little $100/month Geo Metro.
-So now I can spend the savings on my girlfriend. :)

My, how the ladies "love that Metro"!

Why I love my MK2 T3.
looks good.
Its so light
Easy on the wallet
It is "Jack be nimble Jack be quick"
easily modded
Fun to work on
Not a heat score.
most important, Its so different it demands a second look.

No other car makes me smile like it does and plus the push handle across the rear hatch comes in handy to move it out of your way.

I love my firefly for this simple creed:

3cyls of raging fury, baby!

By far the most enjoyable car I've owned, driven, raced, modified, cursed at, stroked, polished, filled the tank, cleaned. Other than a few odd problems, I really have no complaints about it.

I've alway liked the underdog. I started driving a firefly and now 8 years later, I'm still driving them. I've strayed a bit and bought other cars (subaru, rx7, etc) but I always come back to the swift family. Between my dad and I we have had more than 15 of these cars, and we don't want to drive anything else. It's too bad that they are no longer making these cars, because there's nothing else that I really like.

The best part of driving a swift in my opinion is: No car payments!

My dog also loved swifts oddly enough. When ever I was working on a swift or firefly he would always get in the back and stay there for hours. He never did this with any other car and I have no idea why.

I forgot to add one major reason that I love swifts; This Forum. It's great to read and filled with tons of useful info. I have two rx7's, but I don't like the rx7 forum. I am planning to sell them.

ok, i've had my swift gti for jus over a week now and it is the most fun i've had on 4 wheels. just the fact of when i took my mates out in it (1 by 1) i'd say "just remember, it's a 1.3" and they'd be like "f**k me, it goes well."
also it will keep up with my mates vw golf 1.8 turbo to 80mph :D .
this car makes me smile whenever i get behind the wheel.
only thing is i have used roughly £60 of fuel in the last week (500 miles). thats about $104 US or $142 AU, but thats british tax for you.
i just love the underestimated image of this car. i was going to get a civic but i am sooo glad i didn't. the online community is unreal too :)

best thing by far is the power to weight. also, on a 100bhp car every 1bhp increase equals 1% :D :D :D

James, try again. Trust me, your car should be p***ing on your mates Golf

Seriously, trust me, i speak from experience. I have embaressed LOADS of mk4 Golf Turbo drivers. You can tell its the more powerfull one(180bhp) cous of the red "i" in the gti badge. The less powerfull (2.0, 150bhp) one has a all silver badge!

What ever colour there badges are, they all turn a certain shade of pink in the end 8)

Thats what our cars are all about, darkhorse's

Or maybe the 1.8 has 150bhp and the 2.0 has 120bhp :? Hmmmm

Whatever, they both get a spanking

1st time i tried i had an extra person in the car and he was on his own, since then it's been funny listening to the excuses he's come out with.
rapid little motor, i love it. jus need a wiring diagram and the sofware/cable to map the piggyback now

Haven't finished reading this thread yet but I've come across a lot of comments about how good a Swift GTI might sound. Is it true? Does that car, stock, realy sound good? I've only ever crossed paths with them in situations where hearing anything isn't an option because of rain and rolled up windows.

Just fishing for justifications to buy one myself,.... Sound is a bonus!
Any chance I could get hp and torque ratings on a swift GTI?
