Taking it up from where this thread left off, for all to see: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=52366

Ok some good news. Following my previous post, I sent the good folks over at Zaklee Corp. an email and they responded within a couple hours.

The main man there is a cat named Rob, really cool guy. He said that he can pretty much get it done. He of course wanted an idea of what year swifts the cover would fit and if we could translate our interest into numbers.

I know that at his prices (circa $100) that there will be some serious demand for it, and I told him that we would get some figures back to him soon. So I think we can now create an appropriately named group-buy thread to garner some interest following what you guys started here.

I was even giving thought to funding a run of the covers out of my own pocket and then selling to members, if need be, but I'll wait on Rob to see what he says. He is currently attempting to procure a oem upper cover from the local Suzuki dealer nearest to him....if that doesn't pan out, does anyone have a spare they are willing to donate to the cause? I would have gladly sent him my one and only but the shipping would make much more sense for a US-based member to send it to him.

Update: Rob says to don't be too eager to get them anytime soon because the entire process up to where the items are boxed up and ready to be shipped may take up to 1 year....but I told him we were patient folk.

He should be getting a brand new oem cover from the dealership around 3 weeks from now and then the fun begins for him!

In the meantime, keep the interest coming and don't let this thread die!

Yes we know. I'm not putting a gun to anyone's head. If anyone wants to pay $160 + shipping from the other side of the planet (literally), feel free.

I didn't know you guys knew already. I know it's expensive and I can't see myself paying so much $$$ for a cover.
I'll be waiting for the one that will be made in the group buy here. 8)

Everything in Australia is expensive and shipping to and from that part of the world to North America is outrageous.

That's a reason why most inquiries about swift stuff from N.A. to Australia are ignored.

I will be waiting patiently...

Update: Gave Rob some pics and specs of the stocker, he’s working on it (that’s the short answer)...something about creating a stereolithographic model.

I need to know though, for you guys with stock bolts for the upper cover, what the lengths are on the lower 3 bolts for that upper cover? I know the middle one is longer, but I am not sure if my bolts are the stock length or have been replaced.

Thanks.

any word on what they will actually cost when finally available? if it's a $100, then I may be interested in a cover.

No word on final cost as yet, but I can assure you it will be nowhere near $150 + shipping from Australia!

Just my two cents worth..

I do not want to deviate anyones choice in purchasing this item but I wish to let you guys now.

I am from Australia and purchased one of these to show off my adjustable cam gears..

Upon delivery the product looked great.

Attempting to install is .. the bolt holes did not line up too well, so I had to drill them larger.

As it is a mold of the upper cover from the outside you have to make sure not to tighten the side bolts too much as it is not solid and will not sit flush.

Once I had it mounted I found after a few drives the side walls had warped in towards the T -belt .. not to the point of touching but I did not want to take the risk.

If they are going onto a show engine which is not going to get started I would say that it was a great Item however I was disappointed with the usability.
