This is what you need for valvecovers and larger things like that. The machine I used was only good for items smaller than a valvecover, and shorter.

I no longer work where I used to, but if anybody is interested I can try to point you in the right direction to local options.

What about engraving degree marks on a set of cam gears? I've got a set of Crane adjustable gears but they don't have lines or numbers for the degrees.

Yeah I can do that, circular things are no problem.

got a picture so I can look at where the marks would need to be?

I can get you a pic of them this weekend. I've got to "unbury" a few things.

I was also thinking of doing the same thing on underdrive pulleys, so there's a spot for the timing strobe to catch. I will to mine, at least.

depends on how tall the cover is, and how big you want the lettering.
to be real honest, I don't think it'd work out too well because of how small the engraving chamber is. I can do about a 2" dia. circle each pass. When I originally posted this idea, I had marking on smaller objects in mind. Shift knobs, Underdrive pulleys, cam gears, things that size.

What's the max size you can fit in there?

I can engrave about a 2.5" dia. circle in one shot. I can move it and shoot again, but continuity gets sketchy if it's a really big object, as the sides of the chamber get in the way.

I'm not too sure if the focal depth will allow for a valve cover off a GTi...
in fact I'm almost certain it won't fit. I'll get dimensions and post back.

Ok I'm back. Sorry I took so long to get back on this. I'd have to see what the cam cover looked like first. get me pictures of all angles if possible. Cam gears as well. Shift knobs, keychains, yadda yadda yadda are all possible. Or, I can do jewelry too. :-P

How about Titanium rings about 7/8" OD by 3/8" wide? I just machined some up and was wondering if you could engrave words on them? what would it cost roughly?

Funny you should ask, that's what we use it for most of the time. :D Only on Tungsten Carbide, not Titanium. Makes no difference though, it's just as easy.
Engraving words, no problem. I normally say I only do Block or Script fonts, but I can do any font you have on your computer and know how to email to me. That doesn't mean it'll look good though.

Do you have a logo or hallmark to put inside? It's important.

PM me.
