The same Canada Post service for goods shipped from the United States to Canada costs $5.00.

And thats only if they have to open the pkg. for inspection, or charge taxes, based on the value being greater than $20.
If you value it less than $20, no charge is appplied.
I'll be watching to see what happens.

Years later, same sht dif day. I bought a $10. part they wanted $48. @ the door. I had paid $15. already for shipping.

If it is coming North into Canada (not sure about going south) I will not buy unless it is coming US Post, Period. It's not only UPS that has the golden brok rage fees.

I donated my $ and I asked the delivery guy to deliver the part to the main executive at UPS
and tell him... " here is your supository sir ", hopfully it cures greed.

There's a way around the "brokerage" fees if you want to take the time to do it.

Insist that your US seller gives you the tracking number of your package as soon as they know it. Then call UPS and tell the rep that you will be brokering your own package. They have to allow you to do this. They'll inform you that you'll need the brokerage papers in your hands when the delivery guy/gal shows up with your package. You'll get those papers from your local (hopefully you live in or near a major city) Canada Customs office. Bring your receipt from your purchase and all other documentation with you, like proof of identity. Canada Customs will then charge you the duty on the shipment and give you your brokerage papers for the UPS folk to take back with them when they leave you with your package.

Voilà. No brokerage fees.

Works for all other shipping companies as well.

I have been accepting pkgs shipped UPS (from outside the country) as long as the value is under $20, and the pkg is either uninsured, or insured for less than $20. I have yet to pay any brokerage fees at all.
Remember it's $20 CDN.

in fact, they will do all the paper work for you, you just need to get your ass out to the customs and pay the duties, then ups should give you your package, if they didn't mysteriously lost it.

last time I got something shipped from them (couldn't get the seller to ship it via usps) my GF opened the door, she saw the box from her own eyes. they were asking $90 for $120 injectors. I had already paid $30 for shipping. It got lost after the 2nd delivery attemp (even if I called them to tell them NOT to make a 2nd attempt :x ) so I had to claim paypal.
