I just picked up a 96 chevy metro 150,000 miles and cold ac for 685 dollars. I'm confused as it seems a few things have been swapped around since it was new, it's supposed to be an lsi. Which it is a 2 door hatch with the 1.3 4 cylinder, However it has no tach, black bumpers, which the hatch is for a geo and the hood color looks off so might have all been replaced at some point including the bumpers. It has glass sealed beam lights instead of the composit lamps but like I said it's like it was wrecked and fixed cheaply with xfi parts. What other way is there to tell what it is? I'm pretty sure only the lsi had the 4 Cylinder?

In the U.S. 96s were badged as Geos. After 95 there were no Xfi models. Just a base and Lsi, I don't think you can tell from the VIN. My 95 sedan came as you describe your car. I installed the plastic headlights from an automatic coupe. They went back to the Chevrolet brand in 98.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to look the title over again lmao. I was just curious I've read so much different stuff I don't know why to believe so I came to seek professional opinions.

They were built at CAMI Automotive .

I read that they were all built there for north America except the convertible. Does this mean mine was also sold as a Canadian car because it's a 96 chevy? And we're the options any different between the two?

I was talking specific about your model generation .
The next generation 1995 on they were all built at CAMI for North America.
No it does not mean your car was a Canadian spec unit .
Hope this helps :D
