Hello,

I have a 1991 Sprint 3 cylinder Automatic... It starts up and runs okay, but while I am starting the car there are a lot of loud, very rapid random, loud clicking sounds coming from (it seems like) inside the dash behind the stereo area... could it just be a relay clicking, or something more serious? The starter seems to engage the flywheel with no problem. The battery is new, and there is no shortage of voltage. Just this loud 'rapid fire' clicking noise...


The very rapid clicking sound only occurs while I am actually starting the car... only while the key is turned to the start position does this random clicking occur seemingly inside the dash. Once the engine starts and I let go of the key, the engine runs and the clicking stops! Strange...

Is this a common issue?

unhook the single spade terminal on the starter solenoid and turn the key to the start position and see if you still have the clicking sound.
