Hello All,

Looking at purchasing an '87 Swift Turbo w/ 150k miles on it. Well kept car but on the test drive I noticed that once you get over 4000 RPM the engine hesitates abruptly before catching itself and continuing to accelerate. Doesn't seem to happen in 1st gear but did happen in 2nd and up. Owner used to drive the car daily but generally shifted before 4000 so he never noticed the issue. Car has been sitting with infrequent use for the last 9 months. Started right up on the first crank, no weird noises and no leaks. Looked around the engine compartment and most of the hoses are newly replaced except for 1 or 2.

I'm not very familiar w/ these cars but I did a good amount of research on them before going to see it earlier today. Fun car to drive but I'm hesitate to make a purchase until I get a better idea what could be causing something like this. If anyone has any suggestions on what it could be and how I might be able to preliminarly troubleshoot in the current owners driveway that would be great.

Thanks all.
