Post subject:  turbo vs non turbo 1.0

I have a dune buggy I converted to a 1.0. Came from a 87 Chevy Swift. and used that transaxle 5spd. Trans broke on 3rd drive.
Am replacing it but the guy gave me 2 good engines. is a newer turbo engine (no turbo). Whats the difference in internals? Can I put intake and carb on that engine and expect it to run any better?.
Also curious if there is way to change gearing... It is WAY to high geared for dune buggy.
Is a fun project though.. so far... If it holds together.

the turbo version will have heavy duty connecting rods and lower base compression pistons (8:1.)

transmissions for that vintage are what they are and pretty hard to find.

The 95+ G10, and convertible trans. had a 4.39-1 final drive, and will bolt right up. These are probably the best choice for your application.
