I was wondering if anyone has a full wiring diagram for a MK4/5 Metro 3 cyl.

I have a Haynes manual but the schematics vary too much between the different years, I am looking for something for the later metros only. Can't find anything in the search/Achieves here.

Any useful help is welcome, Post here or PM me.

Hey Guys,

I have a 93 Geo Metro Convertible which won't start anymore. I can push it and pop the clutch but the starter just won't do it's job. I'm looking for schematics showing this portion. Could someone please help me out?

Thanks a lot!

jaxx,

a 1993 is a mk3 designation. you posted in the mk4/5 section so you may not get the right eyes on your post.

check the faq threads in the mk3 and vert sections as well as the gallery's manuals section for the wiring schematic.

the starter circuit is pretty straight forward. the starter switch is on the ignition key switch, one position which is solely designated for that task. there are separate interlocks for manuals and automatics - the manual uses a clutch safety switch, the auto uses a park safety switch.

there is a spade connector (the only connector like it) located on the starter solenoid, mounted on the starter body, and sometimes that gathers crud and corrosion which causes problems. clean both sides of the connector and pinch the female side a little bit to tighten it up.

also, the starter itself uses carbon brushes to pass current to the individual bars on the motor's commutator. the brushes can be cracked, chipped, or worn. the commutator can be worn out or the windings connected to the bars can be shorted or broken which can cause "dead" spots in the motor. any of that can cause the starter to give you fits.

less often, but still a possibility, is that the contacts in the electrical switch on the ignition lock assembly can be worn causing an intermittant operation. in all, it's fairly easy to troubleshoot starter problems.

good luck. :D

crnolic, I'm in need of good instructions for replacing the control arms and tie rods for a 2001 Metro.

didrikson, Those are good diagrams. They'd be better with the verbage matching the numbers 8)

the best wiring diagrams are in the factory service manual, which can be bought in a two volume set for about $130 online....
they is no 'full diagram' per say, but individual diagrams for each 'zone' or section of the car.
