wanted to step up and thought I had a new hertz cloth top in the box
when I pulled it out this is what I discovered. :(
.
the box says 2008 I'm taking the 5th on that one
I bought one off fleebay the other one I got off CL drove to hell and gone for a $$ top out in the backyard under a soggy pine tree in a cardboard box that came apart in my hands was this vinyl top w cable kit
so I pulled that one out and laid it next to my (hertz top)

this is how I did it
I used three tool's
phillips screw driver/ plyers/ thorx #4 screw driver.
A handy old man........... but I'm refraining from calling him a tool... is very helpful

Undo the trim below the rear window
undo the side trim piece---unhook top cable both side
pop the botton (dog ear)
pull the back of the top forward
undo the the header trim piece
peel back the front and lift off
.

.
this piece on top of the side trim only goes on one way and usualy drops down into the well and forgoten

cable shot how it looks after remove side trim

.
this little hook tool helps to unlatch the front clip on the side SS piece then slide the trim piece forward

it looks like the "peel n' seal" they sell at lowes.

that will definitely quiet things down. scott took advantage of having the ragtop off when you have the best access to the rear of the tub to reach the insides of the rear quarter panels.

however you feel that you fornicated the canine with that, chief, the pics don't show it. it's always a little bit of a chore to get the "stretch" just right but several days in the sun and the fabric usually tightens up enough to draw the puckers out. the hardest fitment points for me are always the front corners at either end of the header bow. you really have to pull like a plow mule to get the fabric to wrap around the corners just right.

as my top installation skills have progressed, i now spray the galvanized steel panels on each end of the header with eastwood company's rust encapsulator which converts any rust on the header and leaves a nice, soft matte black finish. when the fabric folds around the corners, any exposed bit of the header just blends in with the black fabric and you don't notice it unless you get really close and focus on the corners.

on a convertible, the top is meant to be down anyway.

i really like that yellow car. it was nice of your dad to take such good care of it for you.

i'd paint red racing stripes on that one with black triple stripe tape on the edges of the wide red stripe. :ez_smokin:
