MOE's SUZUKI SERVICE has produced a new distributor angle drive kit for using the G13b engine in samurais.

The only problem using this engine in a Samurai is that the distributor is pointing out of the engine, straight in to the firewall:

even with a Mazda distributor cap, it's to tight.

The kit:

The price? I'm swapping a G13B into a 77 mitsu lancer and could be interested....

there's no pic of the worm gear and shaft for the 90 degree drive. is there a bearing and seal for the output side?

the distributor into the firewall thing has been a problem with that transplant for years. it's about time someone came out with an engineered kit to fix it.

This is how the engine in the samurai came from the factory.

I was thinking about making a oil groove inside the bronze bushing. Then it's going to be similar as the GTi distributor.

I'm about to test this kit in a Swift I know works (my Project isn't), so it's exiting 8)

finally mounted adapter:

adapter on engine:

angle drive:

mounted in a gen 2 Swift:

everything Works, but I got no spark.

when you see the pictures below, you'll see why :/

samurai distributor:

V.S

Swift gen. 2 distributor:

there are two different ignitor systems between samurai and gen. 2 Swift. But if I had a spare gen. 2 distributor, I'd just put it in the samurai disrtibutor and the problem would been solved, but I didn't want du destroy my only gen. 2 distributor.

as far as I can see, samurai and Swift gen. 1 distributor, got the same Components inside the distributor, and therefore it should work witout any problems.

unfortunately that means that I'm not able to test run my angle drive kit.

if anyone got any ideas of what I can do to test my kit, I would be really happy!!!

The machine shop are using alot more time than I could ever imagine
I'll call them again this week to get some action.
Thank you for your patience !!

still haven't got a price from the machine shop :(
But the price will vary, depending on what you want. If you just want the driveshaft and adapter housing, it's cheaper than a Whole angle drive kit. You'll need to use some of Your own parts to get it working, because I don't have more GTi distributors.

I did a mechanical test, and it worked out just fine :D

To get the distributor to work properly is the next case. The mk1 and samurai has the same Electrical components. Mk 2/3 is different. I gues you'll have to use the mk 2 / 3 Electrical comonents in the samurai distributor housing.

About the rotation of the distributor, it's something I'll have to figure out. The only problem I've got is that I don't have a running MK1 yet, so I can't test it out properly.

so if anyone could help me solve this problem, it would been great!!

I've figured out that I need to get 2000 Nok (about 310 USD) + shipping for the kit.
I'ts cheaper than the other kits available, and you get more parts for your bucks.

I only have 10 kits left, so if you want the kit, let me know :)

Pull the seals off the bearing and you should get enough oil to keep the gears alive.
Not on the distributor but on the adapter only.
