Well, After further tuning and a slightly better launch, 1/4 times dropped to 14.1 @ 106 MPH. Gtech shows a slight improvement on overall HP.

Boost was kept at 9 psi, now, the gtech shows the car is faster than my previous NA setup by 1.1 seconds

I guess it's time for some good slicks, and break into the 13s, because launch is still worse than before. I wonder what kind of improvement would an LSD show in this case. The tires leave two even black patches on the pavement, which shows that traction is somehow even.

Next test will be with the Boost Control active in 3rd and 4th, I want to reach 15-17 psi there.

Finally, big thanks to DMWdave and rvengineering who helped me to improve the spark map.

Great read mate! Do you have a chart of G force we could look at too?

Cya.

Are you considering taking it to the 1/4 mile track?
Do you have one near?
They normally have much more grippy surface than the usual roads.
It would be awsome to see it officially brake into the 13's with just 9psi !
Keep up the good work!
Phil

Well, I´m sure the car is capable of high 13, but I don´t have slick tires, and our tracks don´t have VHT, they´re just like plain roads. The only track I have nearby is 160km south, but it is 250m or quarter kilometre. I have posted some vids, they´re in the track section. My best total time was 11.41 (ET+Reaction) with a reaction time of 0.40s. Just for reference, I raced a car (Fiat Uno Turbo) that does 1/4 mile in 13.15 secs, and that night the fiat did the 250m in 10.70s. The videos are on youtube, just search for ¨Caaarlo Lavalle¨, they are only 2 videos.

I love the sound of the Launch control, if I didn't expect it I think I would crap myself if something start exploding, popping and banging next to me on the lights lol.

Hey Caaarlo, perhaps you don't have a G force chart, but do you by any chance remember what you got for 1st and 2nd? I'm just trying to compare in my head how fast the car goes. I remember a 1995 911 porsche doing 0.64G in first.

I'm getting 0.48g in 1st and 2nd. 1st should be higher, but I have wheelspin. On bad launches, I sometimes get less acceleration in 1st than in 2nd gear, around 0.43g.

With my former NA setup, I was getting 0.52g, but wheelspin was much less.

I'm not impressed with the 911 figures, because it has RWD and enormous tires.

The 911 is just a shitty car for drag racing. It's built for autobahn and circuit racing.

Finally, could hit 20 psi today, with the wastegate hose disconnected, just opened by the exhaust pressure.

The megasquirt log shows a WOT pass in 3rd gear. Pressure = Cyan ; RPM = Yellow. Notice the wheelspin in the middle of third, where the boost reaches its maximum. (remember that my final drive is taller than stock, 3.58... so, my third gear is almost 4th of a stock swift). Pressure is measured in kilopascals. 238 KPa = 20,3 psi. Tuning was crappy, I still need to tune the timing and fuel maps, because the AFR was ~9-8 and spark advance ~22 deg@20 psi.

Image

Boost slowly decreases to ~16 psi@ 7500 RPM, so, I am planning to install a boost controller to keep boost steady around 16-17 psi.

Big thanks to Jess @ Turbinetech... from which I borrowed (without permission) one of his Megasquirts. Be patient, just pretend as if I was road testing the units

hi Caalrlo,
i am one of the guys running ms on Quebec swift club . I was wondering what injectors that you are using because I can't get a decent idle with 450 cc off an Eagle Talon. And I figure that this is the smallest that I could run safely, because last year I got 230hp at the wheel with my old set-up using 8 injectors.thanks for the 029vx martin

You're welcome. I would like feedback on the 029vx.

Regarding the injectors, I am using DSM 390cc injectors. Idle fluctuates sometimes when cold, but runs very steady once warmed up. I would suggest upgrading to MS2, because injector resolution/granularity is 100x better.

Dual injector rail is much better for idling, use small injectors as the primary ones, and then open the larger when necessary.

or what about the HighRes code and racingmini_mtl 's low impedance injector driver board? its great for the swift because it takes all the flyback off the main MS board and each injector channel has its own dedicated ground.

I didn't notice that board. Looks good. Without all the annoying PWM noise. Either way, the High resolution code only has 2x better resolution. But yes, it could be a solution.

the standard MS Extra code has 0.1mS resolution, and the HighRes has 0.035mS resolution, hehe, just bit more than 2x, like 3x.

Yes I would like to go with the high resolution, but we need it to work with Caaarlo code 029vx because we are all running plug and play ( the 6 of us ).

By plug and play, you mean with the stock toothed wheel ?
