I'm really interested in turboing my 2002 Suzuki Swift 3 cylinder to use for competition.

What do I need to be able to do this? The engine is stock at the moment.

Any help with this would really be appreciated. I am in the UK so this car does not have the same following that it does overseas so I want to embarrass / upset the norm.

I was thinking of using parts from a Ford Fiesta 'EcoBoost' 1.0 purely because of a similar sized engine & parts are plentiful here - unless someone has a conversion kit.

It's already been done, by Suzuki. There were turbo MK1 cars, 85-88 and there were a few turbo MK2 cars which had pretty much the same engine as yours. As far as I know they didn't sell them outside of North America, but I could easily be wrong about that.

The difficult thing about adding a turbocharger to an engine is control. The turbo blows in a lot more air, but you need a computer to meter in a lot more fuel to go with it, and you also need a computer to manage the spark timing. There are aftermarket computer systems that will do this, but they require a lot of programming to get them right. This means a lot of fiddly tweaking while running the car on a dynomometer, an expensive proposition.

Using the entire factory setup is much easier, and the factory parts can usually adjust automatically for a modest increase in performance. Once you go past a certain point (say 20% more than stock just as an example) the factory computer gets confused and then you're back to having to come up with your own computer.

I was aware of the factory car's, that's why I thought it was an option.

You are right tho, the turbo'd Swift did not make an official appearance in the UK.

I've sent out some feelers to find some parts but had no joy as yet - hence posting here & considering making a bespoke system.

The stock computer will work ok as high as 4-5 psi boost. After that, see if you can find an extra injector controller to add extra fuel. Igniton timing isn't a concern until you'tr trying to make serious power. Just don't run too much advance, and use premium fuel

Hi,
A Happy New Year to you all.

I want to get some parts from North America for my G10 engine, too.

I have made turbo manifold for G10 but I would like to know what G10T is running for injector/s.
Is it single injector or injectors? The cylinder head has holes ready to drill for MPi so thinking if I can get hold of fuel rail..... you can see where I'm going.

ECU wise, MegaSquirt will work OK with 3 pots as well.

I may be able to supply all you need off of the turbo engines from north America, but the shipping could really make the parts pricey. Have everything I think from intake to turbo to complete engine, although could be missing some small detail parts like oil supply line for factory turbo and such
