of which? the 2.7 baleno project has been scrapped and now coming RWD as it was impossible to get the drivers side axle fit.

The swifts being rebuilt using a 1000cc swift box hope the internals will last, planning on getting a 4.9:1 diff set.

compression n cams

Rebuilt the engine to 1.9 using F20b honda pistons...cr is now 12.75:1 engine is only being used for track now so thats no problem..

Last two weeks when i drive the car everyday it had amazing torque low down couldnt rev it, cause i pinked like mad above 2500 rpm....but still was able to tow my escort mk1 race car comfortably in 4th gear under 2500rpm.

Now that im using it for track use i'm wonder if the standard cams are capable or if i need new cams? cannt find manufacturers specs on these cams but by my measurements. Base cicle is 29mm and 11.75 max lift inlet and 29mm and 10.25mm exhaust. Uses hydraulic buckets so its a 1 to 1.

will post some rod data later today but from the engineering specs of this engine it should be a good performer wid standard items like a 1.8 gsr honda except the lift.

may run it on carbs to but not sure yet.

Hey, I was looking for pictures on google about the J18 crank and came across you guys. You might have seen my vids on youtube. Anyways, I was wondering if you still have or have specs on the J18 crank. I want to do a build up to maybe a 1.9L using J20 parts. but Want/need specs on the J18 internals before I decide to go and buy a J20 for parts. I am/was a mod on Clubaleno. The owner recently pulled the site down. I am trying to buy it back to get it online again. I still have not heard back from him. Wish me luck. Heres my car as it is atm.

BTW, the white one is going to have the engine taken out is why I am inquiring about this. I may have to just rebuild it if I cant get the money in time to do what want to do with the J20 Dont want the whole J20 engine swapped in, I just want to build it up to a higher comp from the 9.8 to 10.5 if I can do it with OE parts. This car needs to be ready to go to Japan after May. Will need to ship it AFTER I get a Japanese license, that will take a while. :?

What flywheel did you use? I picked up a J20 today and the flywheel is too large for my bellhousing so I'll need to either source another bellhousing or a different flywheel.

Sorry for the late reply, but is this a question for me? I am still using the J18, and after some reasearch using J20 parts is not in MY interest. I am working on using different parts though. I posted some info on my replacement site for the old clubaleno. Still need to buy a domain. haha  >> http://clubaleno.21.forumer.com/index.php

Bye the way, I am completely tearing down my J18 so expect lots of specs to be posted.
Just some teaser pics for you. :P

yes on the escort pls!!!

Claude B,
good to see someone doing up a j18 but I think you have to be careful of the rods and perhaps a hollow style crank?.

that pic, is it of a swift or baleno engine bay? in case i missed where it was said. getting vitara engines here in Jamaica is no problem in terms of availability, might be a bit pricey. i would like to know the technicalities involved in making that conversion into my swift and where possible not alter the chassis leg. thanks

western, maybe u and me could make a link and work out something.

flywheel was a lightened J18 which is the same as J20. u would have to use a G16 gearbox bell housing. or cut down the diamter of the 1.8 flywheel n use the standard 1.3 bellhosings. but the gti clutches slip on the 1.8 so better to keep using the 1.8 setup.

Ok. So the 1.8 has a smaller flywheel. My engine comes out of a Grand Vitara and it has a much larger flywheel than the G16B as found in the Vitara.

baldurg, you can grab a flywheel from an aerio/liana with a J20, it's the same as a J18 andshould fit. the vitara flywheel is much thicker than the esteem one.

The Australian J18 i have has solid crank pins, not hollow like G16a
(being in your locality d, id assume thats what you were seeking, AusDM and JDM halfcuts)
