There are a few questions that keep coming up, so hopefully this will answer some of them.

Displacement

Pi x radius of the bore squared x stroke x # cyl.
since displacement is expressed in cubic centimeters, then dimesions must be also in cent.
Example:
74mm bore becomes 7.4cm. Radius would be 3.7cm
3.7 x 3.7(radius sq) x 3.14(pi) = 42.986
42.986 x 7.7(stroke in cm.) = 330.9968
330.9968 x 3 (# of cyl) = 992.99046

Want to put 4.39's in your car, but don't know what it will do to your cruise RPM?

RPM = MPH x axle ratio x 336 / tire diameter.
fifth gear in our trannies is .76-1, so the final drive in fifth is .76 x selected ratio(4.10, or 4.39) Auto trans. are 1-1 in 3rd. gear.
Example
RPM = 60 x 3.12(4.10 x .76) x 336 / 22.74 (185 60 14 tire dia.)
RPM = 2766

Don't know what axle ratio you have, but have a tach?

Axle ratio = RPM x Tire dia. / MPH x 336


1 KW = 1.34 HP

Wow, this helps so much. I used to know all of these calculations, because I learned them from my grandfather years ago (he owned a transmission shop for 35 years). But, I've long since forgotten them. Thanks superf1y! And thanks to Kento for the bookmarks. I added them to mine as well.
