so i had taken apart the transmission and put it back together. now to get out of reverse i have to shift to 5 then to N. i think that maybe there is a reverse shift solenoid that was accidentally installed wrong. i'm hoping Phil N Ed can tell me what i had done wrong with some images. the black and white images i was using as instructions were not so clear either.

Sounds like you might have forgotten one of the balls in a shift rail. If I remember to ill look at my spare trans tomorrow to see whats going on

could have been the case, cause some fell down on the table. or i installed an extra ball in the wrong way. thing is there are more balls and springs than just at the top of the transmission with the 3 bolts. thing is the mechanics manual for the transmission forgot to explain it with the other ball springs go.
so if you can for sure tell me what to do VR4 that would be great as I plan to take out the trans this week to change out the rain main seal.

there is a ball in the shifting fork rails a ball in the 5th gear syncro hub bracket inside the black cover. then the three with the srings on top of the box.

1990 swift GL Twincam swap
Hyundai trans swap- in progress

i was missing a 5 gear shift guide ball (behind the hex plug in the 5 gear fork assembly) and missing a shift guide ball on the revé5 gear shaft (lower portion near the left case) .
now shes back together and works as required except a hard effort shift.
