I have bought a 93 metro 1L 3cyl that has a burnt exhaust valve. I have read through the posts and plan on replacing all 3 valves, valve seals, and timing belt while I have it apart. This is the first time I have ever done a job like this. I have the head off, and the valves out, but I can't figure out how to remove the old valve seals. Any help would be appreciated. Also when I put everything back together, how do I set the timing ?

Oh go ahead and spring the peanuts to replace all six, lap em good, new seals and back in Business. As for the seals, well they do make this fancy valve stem seal removal pliers....but one can with a screw driver pry around the edges till the old crusty things sort of start to rock, from there they usually pop right off.

Ok, thats actually what I had tried with one of the seals, I removed the small spring, and worked the seal that I could see, but it ripped, and part of it is still in the valve guide. I'll try again, but I'm worried about messing up the guides.
