Hi guys,

I was doing some neatening up of my wire harness in the engine bay and somehow managed to tape up/over the wire with the spade connector that goes to the OEM sender for the temp gauge in the cluster.

Can anyone help me identify what color that wire is and which of the harnesses it is usually grouped with?

Thanks a mil.

Sorry there mate, thought you may have picked up that info from my sig but some of it was missing.

MKIII GTi, G13B engine...not sure of the year but I'm guessing closer to 1995?

Thanks Richard. Is that yellow with a white stripe or white with yellow stripe? And which of the engine harnesses does it separate from? Sorry for being a bother.

yellow wire/ white stripe. single wire with a flat spade (stacon) connector that has a black rubber boot over it.

No that is a separate sensor that has a brown connector. This one is a chromed sensor with two wires coming off it, no connector.

mate, that "sounds" like an after market sensor for a water temp gauge... I can't recall a sensor with two tags off of it as a stand alone.
Mine has a two wire brown connetor for wts to ECU, single spade to Water temp gauge and single spade connector to A/C water temp sensor
where is it in relation to the outlet pipe on the thermostat housing?

Thanks ellpee,

I was starting to wonder the same as the sensor on the head that was just divorced from the block had only 1 wire.

But what is this a/c water temp sensor you speak of? I've heard nothing of this before. is that sensor closest to the front of the engine with a single spade connector, on the thermostat housing?

Lets see if I can describe my setup. On the thermostat housing, there are three sensors....one single spade to the front (closer to exhaust mani.), the brown connector one for the fan relay which is to th bottom and to the back a third sensor sorta similar to the one to the front, but with 2 wires. On my old head, this last sender looked similar but had only spade connector.

front sensor is a single spade with yellow wire black tracer? it goes to the A/C as a signal from some frikkin unknown reason. Cultus models came with this. maybe later models also (?).
Dammit, I left my service manual my sons car. would post the service pic for you to i.d. everything but will have to wait....
